Meet the Team

Dr. Ana-Maria Temple, MD, Owner
I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for both undergraduate education and medical school - Go Heels!
I completed my residency training at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. I obtained additional training from the Institute for Functional Medicine. I live in Charlotte, NC with my husband, 3 children, and loyal dog.

Anne Poutier, Nurse Practitioner
My name is Anne and I'm the nurse practitioner at Integrative Health Carolinas. I've been working with Dr. Temple since 2019! Before working with Dr. Temple, I worked in hematology and oncology, inpatient pediatrics, family practice and weight loss. Before going into medicine, I got my first degree in nutrition. From my education in nutrition and my previous work experiences, my eyes were open to the importance of fueling our bodies with the right nutrition, sleep and daily activity.
I have 3 young kids, ages 6, 4 and 1. I spend most of my time outside of work keeping up with them and I enjoy a long run to keep my mental health on track. I look forward to being a part of your wellness journey!
Mercedes Stanley, DNP, CPNP
I am a certified pediatric nurse practitioner. I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UNC-Wilmington in 2011 and my Doctorate in Nursing Practice from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2017. As a nurse, I worked in inpatient pediatrics and focused primarily in pediatric oncology. As a nurse practitioner, I have spent the past 5 years working in primary care pediatrics. As much as I appreciate modern medicine, I have experienced its shortcomings both personally and professionally. Due to this, I am convinced that preventative, holistic medicine is critical to raising a healthier, more balanced generation. I can’t imagine a better way to spend my life than to help children and families achieve overall wellness! I live in Charlotte, NC with my husband and our 2 amazing children!
Karen Joyce, Registered Nurse
I have been working with Integrative Health Carolinas since 2018, ever since Dr. Ana Maria Temple put her sign in the yard of our charming bungalow cottage in Charlotte, NC. It has been such an honor to see the practice grow and see the interest in this alternative pediatric practice. I am a nurse, wife, and mother of three teenagers who is striving to find balance, nurture my family to live a healthy life while focusing on good nutrition. I began my nursing career in Labor and Delivery and mother-baby care, working in the hospital for over 12 years. I earned my master’s of science in nursing and community health. Helping families set wellness goals and approach this through mind, body and spirit. Being a part of this team has offered me the valuable opportunity to grow in my knowledge of integrative medicine and holistic therapies.
Alissa Green, Registered Nurse
Hi! I’m Alissa Green, one of the nurses that works at IHC and I have been working here since 2021. I graduated from VCU School of Nursing and now have been working in pediatric nursing for 17 years. I have worked in the Pediatric ICU, and have been a research coordinator for pediatric oncology, then I worked in school health, and now here at IHC. I have always been interested in health and wellness and completed a program in which I became a board certified nurse coach. To me this is the perfect job and the way medicine should be for everyone!
Kelley Gilbert, Director of Health and Wellness
I received my Bachelor's Degree from Elon University and then went back to school to the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and became a Certified Health and Wellness Coach and started my own health and wellness company consulting for various holistic doctor's offices in the Charlotte area. I met Dr. Temple just a few months after she started her practice and knew I had to be a part of her mission in educating children and families on the importance of health and wellness. I joined her team immediately and have been working with her for 5 years now. As the mom of 2 elementary aged children I understand the struggles of trying to raise healthy children in an unhealthy world. I love sharing tips and tricks that I use in my own household to help other families.
Kristina Johnson, Office Manager
I hold a Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychology and Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice. Birthed two beautiful boys and gifted two more from my wonderful husband, Jimmy (yup, that’s 4 boys!) My holistic journey began back in college when I learned we were the only species to drink a different species’ milk… from then on I started questioning what was being put into our bodies. Fast forward to 2018, as a first-time mom who had just moved to Charlotte, I searched for a holistic pediatrician to help guide us with our newborn. We found Dr. Temple and was in awe with how aligned our beliefs were! After giving birth to another boy in 2021, I decided to become a member of Dr. Temple’s team from the employee side to help reach other families in search of a holistic lifestyle. I am passionate about empowering moms and families to stand up for their beliefs and believe in the power of their bodies!
Ryan Drummond, Patient Coordinator
Hi! I’m Ryan, I am a patient coordinator here at Integrative Health Carolinas. I’ve been a part of the team since September of 2021. In 2018, I graduated from UNC Asheville with a degree in Health and Wellness. During my time at UNC Asheville, I worked in the Health and Counseling center, and there I truly found my passion for helping people. I feel incredibly grateful to be able to continue my passion of helping people here at IHC. I’m pretty new to the integrative world and I love learning about different modalities. I’m grateful for this practice opening my eyes and broadening my horizons to the world of holistic and functional medicine. I look forward to continuing learning about how to live truly healthy lives and help others do the same.
